Rural Beautification & Heritage Management

Rural Beautification

For over 35 years, this program has provided an opportunity to county residents to showcase their amazing properties and be rewarded for the tremendous efforts put into beautifying the municipality. Each year, nominations from different divisions are featured.

2020 Rural Beautification
Due to the Covid Pandemic, there will not be a regular Rural Beautification Tour this year. Instead, Red Deer County residents are invited to submit photos and articles about the yard work they are doing to beautify their properties. Pictures and/or videos could be submitted showing their yard in May, and then showing their yard in full bloom in July. All categories are eligible – Small Acreage, Large Acreage, Hamlet or Sub-Division, Business and Farm. Prizes will be awarded! All entries are eligible for several draws for a gift card (winner’s choice). For more information, contact Sylvia at or call 403.350.2158.

Heritage Management

Red Deer County recognizes the need to coordinate community heritage initiatives and strategies through a Heritage Management Plan. This plan will provide ongoing guidance to heritage property owners, community volunteers, heritage organizations and those with a more general interest in heritage.

  • Built and natural heritage conservation, protection and preservation
