Agricultural Ditch Program
Much of Red Deer County's agricultural production is dependent on maintaining ditches that were dug years ago, to improve drainage of agricultural lands. The AgDitch Program is for eligible Drainage Districts and Drainage Societies in the County, who can apply for funding to assist them in carrying out necessary ditch maintenance work that is environmentally sound.
The AgDitch Program also involves the people who own land alongside the agricultural drainage ditches. County staff and participating Drainage Districts or Drainage Societies work with adjacent landowners, promoting the adoption of practices that protect the ditches and water quality in those ditches.
PLEASE NOTE that this program applies only to maintenance work on existing agricultural drainage ditch infrastructure. The Ag Ditch Program does not support any new draining of wetlands.
