Environmentally Significant Areas
Environmentally Significant Areas are those parts of the County that are important for maintaining biological diversity, soil, water or other natural processes. They provide ecological benefits like clean water, healthy soils, fish or wildlife habitat.
Farmers and Ranchers own and manage much of the environmentally significant areas in Red Deer County. The County's agricultural programs, described on this website, assist our farmers and ranchers in maintaining the ecological benefits in those areas.
For information on County programs that assist farmers and ranchers in managing their Environmentally Significant Areas, please explore the Agriculture portion of this website, or contact the County's Conservation Coordinator.
