Shelterbelts

Tree shelterbelts give protection from wind for people and livestock, they trap snow and valuable moisture, they provide a home and food for many wildlife species. Red Deer County's Shelterbelt Program supports County landowners in planting more trees.

The County can assist you in planning your shelterbelt, and in applying for free trees to plant. The County has available to residents a tree planter and a plastic mulch applicator.

For information, please contact the County's Operations Services Technician or Conservation Coordinator. Or, search the internet for 'Shelterbelt Program Agriculture Canada'.
