RFID TAG Readers

Red Deer County has available two hand held RFID tag reader units that can be used by producers to scan the RFID button tags in their cattle. As part of the new traceability livestock identification regulations, producers must tag animals and keep records on farm of their birth dates. This information is then reported to the Canadian Livestock Tracking System. Feedlot owners are also required to record and report the tag number for each head of livestock that moves into or out of the feedlot.

For more information, please contact the County's Assistant Agricultural Manager.
