A responsibility of Red Deer County administration is the enforcement of County bylaws. One of the most substantial enforcement issues in the recent past is upholding the Land Use Bylaw 2006/6, Part 9, Section 98 - Prohibited Signs. Many ratepayers and the travelling public are familiar with the trailer signs that were located along the Highway 2 corridor in Red Deer County. These signs are prohibited and are in contravention of the Land Use Bylaw.
Red Deer County Administration began enforcement on the illegal trailer signs in 2015. After a lengthy enforcement campaign, the County is pleased to report that the issue is coming to a close. In 2015, over 44 trailers were in contravention of the Land Use Bylaw. Today there are 2 trailers remaining along the highway corridor. Red Deer County will continue enforcement of these non-compliant trailer signs.
