    3. Search and Rescue (SAR) involves searching for and providing aid to people who are in distress or imminent danger. The Red Deer County Search and Rescue team trains in a variety of specialty sub-fields, typically determined by the type of terrain the search is conducted over, including ground search and rescue; the use of search and rescue dogs; urban search and rescue; and inland water search and rescue.

    4. In addition to Search and Rescue missions, Red Deer County SAR also provides support to other agencies during disaster response, such as floods, fires, train derailments and severe weather events. Red Deer County SAR also acts in a first response capacity along with Red Deer County Fire for motor vehicle collisions, rope / elevator / high angle rescues, water rescues, confined space rescues, livestock rescues and grain rescues. Red Deer County SAR trains weekly and holds weekend courses throughout the year to obtain and maintain personnel competency in addition to attending public outreach and education events.

    5. Search and Rescue is a great way to volunteer in the community, to learn a variety of new skills, to tackle challenging problems and to build lifelong relationships with a like-minded group of people. This We Do, That Others May Live.
