The Red Deer Regional Airport receives $30M investment from the Government of Alberta to develop national logistics hub in central Alberta
Funding will invigorate the airport making it an aviation gateway and economic driver for the region
(RED DEER COUNTY) On March 15, 2023 in Springbrook at the Red Deer Regional Airport, the Transportation and Economic Corridors Minister Devin Dreeshen announced at a press conference that the Red Deer Regional Airport will be receiving the funding over the course of the next two years aimed at expansion and infrastructure improvements.
Mayor Jim Wood was joined by members of Red Deer County Council, and expressed his enthusiasm about the announcement from the Province, he exclaimed “that even more than ever, Red Deer County is positioned to become an important economic player in the region,” he added "this is definitely exciting news; the Red Deer Regional Airport is situated along one of the busiest transportation hubs in the province. This expansion will provide huge economic benefits to central Alberta.”
The provincial funding will support expansion and infrastructure improvement such as the completion of Airport Drive, support north end road construction and civil works, including water sanitation, storm water and fibre optics, to Township Road 374 to assist new business opportunities for the north-end land development. It was also noted that over 200 jobs will be created during the construction.
